About Genevieve

Genevieve Marlow was born on 1st May 1917 in Foxtwistle, Lancashire, England.

At the time of beginning her third diary in July 1939, Genevieve was living in London with her paternal uncle, Mr. David Marlow – a Detective Chief Inspector with Scotland Yard –  however her WWII identity card lists her home as Manchester, implying she moved at some point prior to, or just after, the outbreak of war.

Genevieve maintained her diaries from 1936 and throughout the war, along with a fair amount of personal letters, all of which will be gradually digitised in this collection. A number of third party accounts were also written recording different events throughout this period – links to these stories are available in the ‘Chronicles’ section.
